Paying for it
Many people buy with a car loan from their bank. Here is exactly how that works with Outo, step by step, and who pays whom along the way. Paying from savings instead? Skip this; the road above is the same.
Every shilling, itemised
The final settlement lists each part separately.
A bank normally won’t lend on a car that isn’t in Kenya yet. The car is the bank’s security, and it doesn’t legally exist here until it is registered. OutoFi, a financing company that works with Outo, covers that gap.
Step 1 of 4
The car is bought from the exporter.
OutoFi pays the exporter
Nobody on your side sends money to a person in Japan. OutoFi pays the exporter, the shipping and the duty. Your bank pays once the car is registered here.
What we can’t tell you yet
These depend on your bank. We won’t guess them here.

Slide any of the three. The full cost is more than the sticker price. Around 8% is a sensible cushion.

KES 128,000
Target KES 1,840,000 · 16% there
Put it somewhere with its own name — “Note fund” — a lock savings account, a separate M-Pesa wallet, or your chama.
Your plan, in one line
“When my Note fund reaches KES 1,840,000, I’ll call Outo to start seeing cars.”
After the keys · a sample story, not a real customer
“I wanted something that wouldn’t drink fuel in Thika Road traffic. A year on, it still surprises me at the pump. The tyres were the one thing I didn’t plan for.”
Paid for the car

Then, over the first year · KES 158,000

The honest part
What you pay Outo
KES 0
Dealers pay Outo when they sell a car through us. You pay Outo nothing, and the price you see is the dealer’s own.
The price you see is what the dealer asks. Outo adds nothing on top of it.
2019 Toyota RAV4 · Nairobi
First-time buyer or old hand, man or woman, the price for a car is the same. We don’t size you up.
You can’t pay on this site, on purpose. You’ll see the car, the logbook and the seller in person, with one of us beside you, before you pay anything.
⚠ Anyone asking you to send M-Pesa first isn’t us.
Today, next month or next year. Leave your number and we’ll start with a question, not a sales pitch.

Get the 2.5 petrol. It's the relaxed one: more pull for hills and a full car than the 2.0, fuel use only a little higher, and none of the diesel's soot worries.
No petrol CX-5 (2017 on) on Outo right now. We can find you one.
We’ll find you that car. Anthony calls you back by 8:30am tomorrow.
